1. What is a tumble accident?
According to the Japan Industrial Safety & Health Association’s Handbook on Occupational Accident Categories, tumbles are defined as, “Cases where people fall on largely level terrain or fall down due to tripping or stumbling. This includes tumbles in which a vehicle or other device also falls, but excludes traffic accidents.”
Tumbles are caused by water or oil making hallways and floors slick, differences in elevation of the floor or protrusions, wiring and cords on the floor, missing a step on a staircase, and more.
